Addis was founded some 118 years ago by empress Taytu because of its hot springs, which she used to attend at every chance she got due to its medicinal and recreational values. After spending some time there she decided to bring the palace to these hot springs and named the place Addis Ababa. Here we are all these years later and we haven’t yet embraced the resources that Addis has to offer as much as we could have done it.

Energy consumption around the world is a highly pressing issue. According to a UN statistic of 2008, the electricity coverage of Ethiopia’s then 75mill population was 16%. Since then, there have been efforts to up the coverage by the EEPCo (Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation), by MoME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) and various aid organizations focusing on the energy sector.
